I was raised in a loving, stable home with hardworking, faith-filled parents. I was a cheerleader, a good student, and active in church. Addiction wasn’t supposed to be part of my story. But at 16, I entered an abusive relationship that broke me down emotionally and physically. After it ended, I turned to drugs to cope. What started as a way to numb the pain became a 10-year battle with addiction. In 2015, I began my recovery journey. Through faith in Jesus, I found healing. I started using drugs at just 9 years old. Growing up around addiction, it felt normal—like the only way to fit in with my family. What I thought would bring me closer to them ended up stealing everything from me. By middle school, I was deep in it. I lost my passion for things I loved, like art and school. I even lost a scholarship because of it. Addiction took my jobs, my marriage, my freedom, and the hardest part—time away from my kids. I used to think I’d never escape it. But recovery is possible. No matter how far gone you feel, there’s always a way back. If any of this sounds familiar, please know you’re not alone. It starts with one decision—and it can change everything.

My struggle with substance abuse began early—by age 10, I was selling and using weed, and by 17, I was addicted to heroin. Childhood trauma shaped my path: I lost my grandmother at 9, my mom went to prison at 14, and I lost my dad at 19—just after serving my first six-month jail sentence. Addiction cost me everything—my freedom, my family, even my kids. I spent years in and out of jail, watching loved ones suffer, including my girlfriend who caught charges because of my actions. I used drugs to numb the pain, hoping things would change—but they never did until I did. Recovery is real. It starts with a choice and the courage to take the first step. With a heart full of faith and a pair of clippers in hand, Landon is using his barbering skills to make a difference. Trained and skilled in his craft, he has traveled on numerous mission trips, offering free haircuts as a tangible expression of God’s love. Now, as part of A Better Life – Brianna’s Hope, a faith-based recovery movement, Landon extends his outreach even further. Every month, he visits the Jay County Security Center, providing free haircuts and personal testimonies to male inmates seeking hope and transformation. Neecey Terry is a resilient individual who has faced some of life’s toughest challenges with unwavering strength. Originally from Terre Haute, IN, and having spent nearly 10 years in Indianapolis, Neecey battled a seven-year addiction to cocaine, enduring years of homelessness. Along her journey, she survived a violent and toxic relationship that left lasting scars, but through it all, she refused to give up. In April of the 2024, Neecey made the bold decision to relocate to Anderson, giving her life back to God. Since then, she has set her sights on achieving her goals, one of which is to become a Peer Recovery Coach. Throughout her recovery, she has been supported by organizations like Willow Place Women's Shelter and ABLBH, both of which have played pivotal roles in helping her regain her footing. Above all, Neecey’s strength and success in recovery stem from her unwavering faith in God. She knows that without Him, she is nothing, but with Him, she has found both her purpose and the path to healing.

Garret Biss is a retired Marine Corps Pilot, addiction recovery coach, and TEDx Speaker. Post-retirement in 2015, Garret confronted challenges common among Veterans: anxiety, depression, and a sense of displacement. Turning to alcohol as a crutch, it wasn't until suicidal ideation took hold that he sought change. Rather than traditional addiction treatments, Garret's path was shaped by mentoring that emphasized self-worth, rediscovering identity, and tapping into inherent strengths.
