Disney Insights of Grizzly Peak at Disney California Adventure

Almost every part of Disney California Adventure has experienced considerable change over the years. And that has happened to some degree in Grizzly Peak. But in truth, it's been very little compared to the rest of the park. And that's because this part really has held the heart of the park--and its mountainous symbol--since day one. Here we'll summarize the original Golden State and then look at Grizzly Peak Recreation Area as it is today. Of course there's attractions like Grizzly River Rapids and Redwood Creek Trail. But the highlight is Soarin'. We offer a tribute to all Soarin' films but mostly Soarin' Over California, and why that film is truly the best of all of them. We also look at a wide range of dining experiences, some of which are not in the park, per se, but have become extensions to the park. And we talk about a metaphor for this area of the park that winds through it all like a grape vine. The details we share here aligns well with a John Muir quotation found within: "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Muppets R&R Coaster Review, Monsters Inc Buildout, & The Magic of Disney Animation Opening Date

I'm way overdue for reviewing Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets--there's several reasons for that, but I'm excited to share my thoughts on this remake--not just for the coaster but for the muppets in the park. And that's not all that's going on at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Monsters Inc. is in big build mode--everything in scaffolding and iron girders going vertical. We'll talk about the approach to this land. And then I share my emotional impressions of the new Magic of Disney Animation courtyard, which now has an opening date of September 14th, 2026. Big Mid Summer Update at Disney Across the World

It's mid summer and the right time to take a look at what's happening at Disney Parks across the globe. More is happening than you might imagine, and we want to capture all the highlights. Our family was there for all the major Fourth of July holiday events at Walt Disney World and we'll share the Red White and Blues of all of it. We'll also look at the larger attendance trends not just at Walt Disney World but at Disneyland. Many beloved attractions have been getting attention recently, and we'll take a look at what's working and maybe what isn't. It's part of Disney to draw attention to the parks to some of the rides and shows we love the most, while they are busy trying to construct major mega offerings. We'll consider the philosophy behind this from both an Imagineering and operational view. This includes recent changes focused on keeping day guests from jumping on a bus at Disney Springs. Is Disney trying to keep everyone not staying at a Disney Resort away? We'll study this, and then we'll look at efforts internationally at a number of Disney Parks. Soarin' Across America: A Disney Insights Review

We are here at Epcot to enter The Land Pavilion and check out the new Soarin' Across America to provide a play by play POV review of this new attraction. Note that since it has opened times can vary greatly, from 20 minutes to over 90. If you can't walk on it first thing in the morning, I recommend dinner time. If the queue is long, hover around the area doing other attractions until you see the time go down, and then scurry over. And scurry quickly because others are seeing the same. That means that while the new shake at Seasons "Smorin' Across America" is tasty, you need to focus and get in the queue while the opportunity presents itself. Disney Insights of Buena Vista Street at Disney California Adventure

So far in 2026 we’ve gone through a walk through of Disney California Adventure of when it opened, and of two projects that were considered previously in its place, WestCOT and Port Disney. Today we begin our exploration of today’s Disney California Adventure, beginning with the entrance to the park, Buena Vista Street. We look at the thinking and the design choices made by imagineers as they removed the original postcard style entry and built something more akin to what Walt Disney would have found when he first arrived in 1923. More than just a stroll down the boulevard looking at shops and eateries, we will study a plethora of hidden details that truly celebrate those early days of Walt and Roy and what they tried to do as they moved from the origins of Mickey Mouse to the premiere of their first full-length animated film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Carousel of Progress Preparing for A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow

This last week Disney announced that the Carousel of Progress would be closing after July 5th to be completely refurbished. John and Sara and the family will all be part of this four act show, but it will be set in completely new eras. We showcase the news of what this show will look like, and provide insights about what it means. But we're also taking the time to step back in history to see how this show came to be legendary to millions of people around the world. Indeed its history goes back to 1958, nearly some 70 years ago. From Edison Square to the New York World's Fair, from a new 1967 Tomorrowland in Disneyland until its final home in the Magic Kingdom, we will look at little known stories and details about this amazing show whose creator is the ever visionary Walt Disney. Mandalorian & Grogu, Movie & Ride, What Works & Doesn't

Summer is here and several new attractions have premiered at Walt Disney World and at Disneyland. We focus on a new mission for Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run, one that is led by Din Dijarin, the Mandalorian, along with Grogu. We look at how this compares with the previous version of the attraction, and whether first time as well as repeat guests will enjoy this experience. And we preface all of that with the new film, Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, which premiered on the same day that the new version of the attraction premiered in both parks. Port Disney and DisneySea

We are using 2026 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Disney California Adventure. And while we did an overview of this park on that anniversary date, it is nearly summer and we've yet to go into the lands of the park. In the interim we took a big left turn to talk about Westcot, which was proposed long before the concept of Disney California Adventure was created. Now we take another left turn to talk about Port Disney and DisneySea, a project proposed at the same time for Long Beach. We will look at this project, why it was proposed, what it offered, and what became of its ideas--one of which eventually landed in Disney California Adventure.
