Reflections on the Historic NYC Nurse Strike of 2026
On this episode of City Works, host Laura Flanders is joined by three organizers of the 2026 nurse strike; the largest such strike in New York City history. Montefiore Medical Center ER nurse and former president of the New York State Nurses Association Judy Sheridan-Gonzalez, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital neonatal nurse Beth Loudin, and Mount Sinai Hospital nurse Goodness Iheanachor speak to Laura about both the accomplishments and frustrations of the strike, and how the heightened aggression and coordination coming from management in this round of negotiations actually served to strengthen bonds between the nurses and their patients.
