Short but sharp price spike approaching?

Join Dennis Voznesenski, CBA’s Agricultural and Sustainability Economist, for this week’s Agri Commodity Update - where Black Sea port attacks, oil-markets and US efforts to lower beef prices collide with Australian farmgate prices. This week, Dennis unpacks why global wheat prices have rallied despite a near-record Black Sea crop, why Australian APW1 prices have risen by much less, and why the next move could be sharply higher but short if shipping resumes from the Black Sea. He also explains canola’s support from disrupted oilseed and crude-oil flows and rising biofuel demand, before turning to cattle markets where favourable rain and tight US supply remain supportive, but returning Mexican cattle and greater Brazilian beef access are limiting upside. Russia's largest grain port attacked

Join Dennis Voznesenski, CBA’s Agricultural and Sustainability Economist, for this week’s Agri Commodity Update - where escalating Black Sea export disruption, stronger oil-markets and improving Australian rainfall collide with farmgate prices. This week, Dennis unpacks why Australian APW1 prices fell as northern hemisphere harvest supply pressure and favourable local weather weighed on prices, before examining why Russia’s wheat story is increasingly about how much grain it can get out, rather than simply how much it can produce. He also breaks down canola’s rally from oil-markets, Black Sea logistics and North American biofuel demand, before turning to cattle markets where favourable rain and tight US beef supply remain supportive, but temporarily weaker export demand is limiting local price upside. Offshore declines push local prices lower

Join Dennis Voznesenski, Agriculture and Sustainability Economist at Commonwealth Bank, for this week’s Agri Commodity Update - where Black Sea disruption, improving northern hemisphere supply and softer global demand collide with Australian farmgate prices. This week, Dennis unpacks why wheat prices fell as harvest supply outweighed repeated attacks on Black Sea export infrastructure, why Australian APW1 prices followed offshore futures lower and how forecast southern rainfall is improving local crop prospects. He also breaks down canola’s decline from improved Canadian crop conditions, weaker soybeans, softer oil-markets and a firmer Australian dollar. He then turns to cattle markets where tight US supply remains supportive, but limited inland rainfall, rising yardings and weaker Chinese and US beef-market signals are putting downward pressure on prices. Market rollercoaster

Join Dennis Voznesenski, Director, Sustainable and Agricultural Economist at Commonwealth Bank, for this week’s Agri Commodity Update — where Black Sea disruption, oil-markets and global beef trade collide with Australian farmgate prices. This week, Dennis unpacks why wheat prices swung sharply as Russia-Ukraine attacks disrupted Black Sea export logistics, why Australian APW1 prices rose despite offshore futures finishing lower, and how patchy rainfall is changing local crop prospects. He also breaks down canola’s pull between weaker oilseed and crude markets, Canadian crop risk and expanded crushing capacity, before turning to cattle markets where US beef demand and continued market access remain supportive, but limited inland rain, higher feedgrain costs, rising yardings and South Korea’s safeguard tariff are limiting upside. Black Sea Port Attacks Rally Wheat prices

Join Dennis Voznesenski, Director, Sustainable and Agricultural Economist at Commonwealth Bank, for this week’s Agri Commodity Update — where Black Sea disruption, oil-markets and the Middle East collide with Australian farmgate prices. This week, Dennis unpacks why wheat prices rallied sharply as Russia-Ukraine attacks disrupted Black Sea export logistics, why Australian APW1 prices rose but lagged offshore futures, and how WA rainfall is changing local crop prospects. He also breaks down canola’s lift from crude oil, soybean oil, European crop downgrades and improved Chinese import access, before turning to cattle markets where rainfall and US beef demand remain supportive, but higher feedgrain costs, larger yardings and Brazilian beef competition are limiting upside. Sea of Azov and Strait of Hormuz drive markets this week

Join Dennis Voznesenski for this week’s Agri Commodity Update — where global geopolitical risk is back at the centre of agricultural markets. This week, Dennis unpacks why wheat prices jumped as Black Sea disruption, tighter North American supply and European crop-quality concerns pushed offshore futures sharply higher — and why Australian APW1 prices only partly followed. He also breaks down Canadian canola moisture risk, stronger China-linked soybean demand, split GM and non-GM canola prices, and why cattle markets took a breather as higher yardings, firmer feed costs and softer offshore beef signals weighed on prices. From the Sea of Azov to the Strait of Hormuz, this is the week in agriculture through the lens of prices, risk and Australian producer impact.
