How to Survive Busy Season Burnout

In today’s episode, I’m diving into how to navigate the intense demands of busy season without burning out. Many of us are in the thick of it, facing long editing queues, endless to-do lists, and the weight of feeling overwhelmed. But with a few strategies, we can make it through more smoothly. Here’s what I’ll cover: Outsourcing: I know giving up control can be scary, but outsourcing tasks can be life-changing. From hiring a babysitter to delegating editing, freeing up your time allows you to focus on the things that matter most. I also share a tool, Imagen AI, which has revolutionized my editing workflow, letting me handle full sessions in minutes! Get 1500 free credits here: https://imagen-ai.com/?ref_id=770633171 Self-Care: This is non-negotiable. While it’s easy to let self-care slide, taking time for yourself can prevent burnout and make you more productive. Simple things like regular meals, hydration, and even a quick pickleball game or reading session can boost your mood and resilience. Raising Your Prices: Busy season is the perfect time to reevaluate your rates. If you’re overwhelmed with clients, it may be time to raise your prices. This allows you to work with fewer clients while still meeting your financial goals, reducing stress and preventing burnout. Prioritizing Family: Shifting your mindset to say "yes" to family can be powerful. When we choose our families over clients, it helps us create healthier boundaries and find a better balance in life. Blocking off family time on your calendar reinforces this commitment. Blocking Out Time: Using your calendar to block off time for yourself, family, and friends helps you maintain a healthy work-life balance. Scheduling non-negotiable time for self-care and family activities prevents you from feeling on-call 24/7 and helps you reset. Setting Boundaries: Learning to say no and setting clear boundaries with clients is essential. Not every client request has to be met, and sticking to your core services can save you time and energy. Saying no to work that drains you means saying yes to the work that fulfills you. If you’re ready to scale your business and regain control of your time, I’m launching a year-long mastermind to help high-level photographers grow their businesses sustainably. https://kyleeann.myflodesk.com/cohort I hope these tips help you survive this season and come out even stronger. You’ve got this! Thanks for tuning in, and take care of yourself this week. I’ll be back next week with more.

Tips For Surviving When Your Partner Is Out Of Town

As many of you know, my husband travels for work and is gone a lot. He works out of town approximately 40% of the time. His office is also in Orem, so when he is working in the office, he’s gone before we wake up until after we go to bed. Because my husband is out of town a lot, that means there’s also a lot of solo parenting going on at our house. I have learned a lot about solo parenting the last 5 years, and you guys have been asking for my tips! As a disclaimer, I know that solo parenting and single parenting is very different. I have a lot of support and I do not want to take away from any single parents. I am not comparing solo parenting to single parenting – it’s very different. There’s a lot going on with being a solo parent off and on, but it doesn’t compare to single parenting. There are a lot of days in our month where it’s just me. It can be very difficult for a mom running a business, like myself, for many reasons. There are so many layers of solo parenting! Tune in to hear my survival tips for when your partner is out of town! If you have any other tips, questions, or comments – please ask and share! It was so fun to talk about my own family today. It’s fun to reflect on what I do to help my own business and family run smoothly, and I hope you learned some tips! We can all do it!

Balancing That Mama Work Life

It’s been a long time since we talked about balancing mom-life and business, so in today’s podcast, I want to circle back to that conversation! It’s possible for you to not feel like a crazy person all the time. I’m not going to say it’s possible for you to feel completely balanced all the time, because in reality, mom-life ebbs and flows. There are busy weeks, days, hours and then there’s slow times. It’s a constant up and down – it will never fully balance. That being said, you can find a balance and a rhythm with the craziness that doesn’t feel all-consuming all of the time. The majority of the time, it can feel like you’re living your dream life. This largely depends on how you approach it and some tools you can use. Make sure you tune in to hear what tools I use to help me balance that mama work life!

What Hating Dogs Taught Me

I was looking back at this past decade of my life and was struck at how different I was a decade ago. I was first married, a new mom and had SO MANY limiting beliefs. At the time I didn’t realize it, but gosh I was just a people pleaser and doing what everyone wanted me to do. I was stuck in the way I was raised and didn’t really have my own opinions. I always thought of myself as a leader but at the same time, I was just a follower! I just let other people’s opinions guide me. I also let things I said to myself, or things other people said to me, develop beliefs about who I was as a person. For example, dogs. The younger me did not like dogs. So I told myself, I am not a dog person and never will be. I did the same thing with exercising, public speaking, hiring my team and going places without my husband. All of these little beliefs were big blocks in who I actually could be. All throughout my 20s, I carried these really strong limiting beliefs with me but within the past few years, I’ve realized that my thoughts and beliefs can change. I did the work to reframe my fixed, limited mindset and I figured out that I love dogs, so much that I even have two of them. I am strong when I push myself. I can learn how to ski. I can hire people. I can trust people with my business. I can speak in public and I’m good at it. Your thoughts can change, and if you find yourself in that fixed mindset, telling yourself things like “Oh I’m just this way, it will never change,” or “I’m always going to be this way,” it’s NOT TRUE. You don’t have to stay there and always be a bad cook or always hate going to the gym or always have a bad relationship with money or always be late to things. Just because you were raised one way or have had people tell you the same thing about yourself, doesn’t mean it has to stay that way forever. So let's get those limiting beliefs out of here and set you up to become the person you want to be. I give all the tips for expanding your fixed mindset to help you become whoever you want to be.

Why You Need a Workcation

We made it! Everyone is in school around here and it is the best feeling. As I was sitting down to work this week and relishing in how much uninterrupted work time I had now that school is in, I was actually shocked at how little work I had to do. Like I only sat at my desk for two hours and that never happens. The last week I’ve just been doing my coaching sessions and the occasional shoot in the studio…and random house projects. So I was wondering where all my work went! And I started thinking back to last fall and what my back-to-work schedule was when school started last year. I had so much work piled on from that summer and I realized the reason why I had so much work then and so little work now is because I took a workcation this year. I actually take a workcation pretty often, like when I have to go speak somewhere or travel overnight for work. This time I was in Bear Lake, thinking I was going to be with my family, but they all got pulled into birthday parties so ended up just being me. And instead of canceling the trip, I decided to go to Bear Lake anyway and turn it into my little getaway. And I got so much done! I wrote 12 blogs, scheduled my social media for the next three months, caught up on emails and updated email marketing. And of course, took some time for me and binged some Netflix rom-coms. I just sat at my computer and got it all out. The secret to feeling caught up and ahead is a WORKCATION. They are a game changer, gets you ahead of work and helps you get caught up. Here's why you need a workcation in your life! If you are ready for a workcation and want to join me in Bear Lake for my January retreat, click the link below to get your spot. Can't wait to see you there!!! https://calendly.com/kylee-ann/work-retreat?month=2023-01
