God’s Calling, Career & Purpose: Am I on the Right Path? Have you ever looked at your life and wondered: Am I still doing what God called me to do? Nearly 30 years ago, I encountered God in a way that changed my life. I was a teenager on fire for Jesus, surrounded by prayer, prophecy and this deep belief that God had a purpose for my life and would use my voice for His glory. Then I grew up. I became a journalist, wife, mother, entrepreneur and media executive. God has opened doors I could never have orchestrated for myself. And yet, somewhere in the middle of building a very full life, I started wondering: Where did the fire go? In this episode, I'm wrestling honestly with calling, purpose, ambition, career and what happens when the life God has given you doesn't necessarily look like the calling you imagined. And then God led me to Esther. One detail stopped me: God is never explicitly named in the book of Esther, yet His providence seems to be everywhere. That led me to Tim Keller's teaching on Esther and the Hiddenness of God —and to a question I can't stop thinking about: What if God has been present all along? I don't have the answer yet. I'm going back into Esther, listening to Keller's series and looking at my own life with fresh eyes. I'll report back. I'm turning 42 next weekend, and somewhere between leaving TV news, raising two kids, and building this media path, I let a slow drift happen with my health — and I finally see the full picture.
