About the show

What really matters? I had to ask myself this question when I faced a mortal health crisis 30 years ago in the form of an incurable, terminal illness. It forced me to clarify what was important. However, we’re rarely taught these things in school. Join me in dialogue with engaging thought leaders to help you gain more clarity, make masterful decisions, improve communication and interpersonal relationships. My goal is to create a repository of knowledge and wisdom to help guide you through these times.

40. What Are You Not Taking Action On? with Shengyu Zhang

Have you ever had an event that you couldn’t get past? Something so painful that its gravitational pull kept you from moving forward? if you moved past it what would open up for you? What would you put into action that you’ve been talking yourself out of? Recently I helped one of my students Shengyu Zhang move past such an episode. What opened up for him was a recognition that he loved learning people’s stories. What he put into action, in a matter of days, was a series of interviews of how someone faced their fear and overcame their struggles. And I had the pleasure of being one of the first people he spoke with.

38. What’s the Deeper Meaning of Artificial Intelligence? with Joshua Shrei

The world is abuzz with excitement and worry about Artifical IntelligenceI and the human future. Perhaps the best exploration I’ve heard of AI comes not from a technological or social point of view, but from a mythological one. What is the deeper meaning of humans creating something that might eclipse them in the future? Why are we driven to do this? More pointedly, after the Sorcerer’s Apprentice summons forth magical forces he can’t control, what happens when there’s no master Sorcerer to come fix the mess he’s created? One of my favorite podcasts is The Emerald by Joshua Schrei, which explores contemporary issues from a mythological lens. The episode So You Want to Be a Sorcerer in the Age of Mythic Powers on AI was so engrossing I listened to it five times. So, it only seemed natural to have a conversation with him when I was invited to participate in the AI & Your Life summit last year. If you want to know more about the Summit, go to Wisdomforlife.life This talk was recorded as part of AI & Your Life: The Essential Summit 2023. For more information, visit www.WisdomForLife.life. Below is the link to the original Emerald episode that inspired me to connect with Joshua. I think you will find it deeply thought-provoking. https://theemeraldpodcast.buzzsprout.com/317042/13210102
