PS Plus Game Club - Episode 42: Skate Story

Nick Hyett-Schnell and Brady (FatePrime) join Kevin to talk about Skate Story, a single developer game from Sam Eng that was released in December of last year. This episode is definitely not a spoilercast, but they do try to make sense of the story for a few minutes. They instead focus on the tone the game sets with its kaleidoscopic art style and laid back music by the band Blood Cultures. They cover their favorite songs, tricks, and decks to ride on. They also note how well the game mimics the feeling of owning a board and making it your own. Skate Story captured the essence of skate culture and this episode is all about how the game got it so right.

Trophy Talk Podcast - Episode 145: Reunited At Last

Hello one and all, and welcome back to another installment of Trophy Talk! In this June episode, Josh and Colin are reunited as cohosts and get to catch up on life, work, gaming, and of course trophy hunting. With life being busy recently, Josh hasn't had as much time to trophy hunt as he'd like but still finds time to earn some trophies in his favorite genre. Can you guess which genre it is? Simulator games of course! Colin on the other hand has sinned greatly this month, purchasing two new games and earning a Platinum for a title that may end up being in the game of the year discussion for 2026. Games covered include House Flipper 2, Powerwash 2, 007 First Light, Mixtape, and Helldivers 2. On top of all of that we of course cover our Patron write ins, Platinum shout outs, and other large topics of the month such as Sony's State of Play for June. Indeed we are eating good as gamers right now. So many games, so little time. It's a tale as old as time isn't it? Please enjoy this episode, and thank you for listening!

Trophy Talk May Extra Episode - What We Want and Expect for the PlayStation State of Play

On this extra episode of Trophy Talk Kevin, Colin, Max, and guest Jordan Vickers gather to speculate about what’s coming for Sony’s big State of Play presentation in early June. You’ll hear Jordan almost kill Colin, Kevin steals one of Max’s predictions, and Max fires back with a reboot of a game that we haven’t heard of, but looks like it deserves a rebirth. They also speculate about the obvious expected sequels and why we shouldn’t see a specific one during the show. Just like the State of Play, everyone should find something to enjoy here, so we hope you love it. Be excellent to each other.

Surviving the Horror - Episode 25: Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon

Hello one and all, and welcome back to another spooky episode of Surviving the Horror! In this episode, Colin and Josh take a departure from the more serious fare they've been playing lately, to visit the realm of Nintendo. In 2001 Luigi's Mansion was released for the Nintendo GameCube and became an instant classic. Audiences around the world were delighted at the ways in which Nintendo could take a "side" character and create a whole new IP with him, in a genre that was largely unexplored by first party at that time. In 2013 a follow up was announced and in 2014 Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon graced us all on the 3DS console. Today, Josh and Colin are playing and discussing the HD port of Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, for the Switch. Released in 2024, Dark Moon HD ditches much of the open world style exploration of the first game, in favor of a shorter mission based structure in several smaller hubs. Is this a successful change? Well that's for you and us to determine! In general though, Luigi's Mansion is a fun, goofy, heartfelt game that uses it's ghosts and creepy aesthetic to do something different with a character we all know and love. We hope that you enjoy the episode, and thank you for listening!

Mooglecast, Episode 23 | An Absolute D-hole | Pitch Me Vol.1

Warmest of Welcomes everybody! Max and Zac are back with another new guest as community member Gazdavis11 joins the show. The now usual run of the show begins with Platinum Shoutouts highlighting completions within the community. Zac then takes us through a somewhat unusual iteration of The Record as he highlights some of the highest rated game releases of the last two years that haven't been completed. Cactuar Vs. Tonberry follows with a review of last month and a new set of challenges from the boys to each other. Gaz has cooked up a special challenge that is sure to keep the boys on their toes going forward. Gaz kicks off What We Have Been Playing with some love for the PS Vita before breaking down an unexplored genre for him with Sand Land. Zac has been playing a number of smaller titles around the big release of Saros that has taken most of his time. Max has been busy, cleaning up four platinums including Clair Obscur and Kena: Bridge of Spirits as well as boosting in one of the most unique Crash Bandicoot games out there. The boys finish off with the promising new segment/topic named Pitch Me, where they each take the time to pitch a new game idea. Zac kicks off with a new tactics Final Fantasy game featuring a multitude of modes and spanning the series' impressive history. Max sends Yu-Gi-Oh to the shadow realm as he reimagines the classic IP as a Soulslike game. Gaz rounds the segment off by bringing a franchise he enjoys, SpyHunter, into the modern day with twists and turns that get the ideas flowing. We hope you all enjoy the episode and we'll see you again in June where Zac will once again have the reins. Until then, Be excellent to each other. Zac

PS Plus Game Club - Episode 41: Metal Eden

Kenny Albanese and Brady (FatePrime) join Kevin To talk about Metal Eden, a stylish and fast boomer shooter that came out just last year. First they talk about what they love about the core gameplay loop of shooting, running, and punching their way through hoards of enemies. They recognize how it features so many different aspects of some of the best shooters in the past few years, but it shows that the small team at Reikon Games knew what made all of those parts special. The three of them take a few minutes to try to make sense of the story, but even after a few playthroughs they still have a hard time piecing it together. That’s not important though because what really matters is the gameplay and how much fun they had, even if there were a few bugs. They each have their own glitchy stories and some are much worse than others. Looking past those bugs is very easy though because they all agree that almost every weapon in the game is arguably a favorite and has a place in the regular rotation. There is a lot they all have to say about Metal Eden and if you haven’t played it, we hope their enthusiastic discussion spurs you to try it. Give ‘em hell, Hyper.

Trophy Talk Podcast - Episode 144: In Sickness and In Health

Hello one and all, and welcome back to another episode of Trophy Talk. On this month's episode Colin is joined by Kevin Garaventa and Will AKA Sqweezy from down under! After what has been a difficult week personally for both Colin and Will, the prospect of gathering around the proverbial hearth and talking about trophies and video games was a much needed reprieve, and one the boys were all too happy to take advantage of. We start off the episode by looking forward and backward at what recent episodes have hit the network, and what is to come. Kevin is very hot indeed on Metal Eden and by the time this episode releases, he will already be recording his thoughts on the game for May's PS Plus Game Club. Colin is also excited after a pretty mid experience with Tormented Souls to get to something more light hearted and fun in Luigi's Mansion 2 for May's Surviving the Horror, and Will is looking forward to his future streaming and YouTube videos on his own channel. After introductions the crew discusses their favorite trophies earned in the last month, what we've been playing, answers Patron write ins and also gives our customary Platinum Shout Outs. The bulk of our discussion here centers around what game we would erase from history if we could, and how we think Marathon is performing now that it's been in the wild for a few months time. If Steam charts are any indication, Marathon has roughly 1/3rd the daily active user base of Helldivers 2 which came out 2 years ago at this point. Is the small but hardcore community enough for the game to find continued success? Lastly the team gives some initial thoughts and a gut check on Saros, the newest console exclusive from Housemarque and a spiritual successor to Returnal. We hope you enjoy, and thank you for listening!

Surviving The Horror - Episode 24: Tormented Souls

Join Josh, Max and Kevin as they discuss a little known indie-horror gem called "Tormented Souls". The boys in this episode dive deep into the good and bad of the game, to include the mind-warping lore, the S-Tier puzzles, combat and more. Many of us who played this came away impressed from many of the design choices in this game. If you like Resident Evil or Silent Hill, this should absolutely be on your radar. Enjoy the episode!
