Customer Service and A.I.
David George from choiceMaster and Louise Welsby from Buy-From, talk us through their presentation to the Shropshire Leadership Conference all about AI for business, focusing on how AI is changing customer service. They confront some of the perceived fears of AI in business and seeing how, far from being negative, it can enhance your business. Recommenders - Why are explanations important?
In this episode of AI And You, David discusses the importance of explainability in recommender systems, focusing on choiceMaster, the system created by David himself. He highlights how traditional recommenders lack transparency and often base recommendations on user history rather than individual preferences. choiceMaster, on the other hand, prioritises user input and provides detailed explanations for its recommendations, enhancing user trust and confidence in decision-making. He also touches on the role of generative AI in search engines and the educational aspect of recommender systems in guiding users towards making informed choices. For further information;https://www.choicemaster.org/david@choicemaster.org

Understanding Recommender Systems
Steve Jobs once famously said, "People don't know what they want until you show it to them." In today's digital age, we often face a persistent challenge: the overwhelming abundance of information. Simply too much choice. The concept of Recommendation Systems, also known as Recommender Systems or Recommender Engines, has seamlessly integrated itself into our daily routines, becoming indispensable tools that help us discover relevant content, products, and services tailored to our unique interestsThe primary focus of recommender systems is to deliver recommendations through the analysis of a users data, encompassing both explicit and inferred interests. Recommender systems have proven to be highly versatile and useful across a range of different contexts. https://www.choicemaster.org/david@choicemaster.org

Threat of GenAI Disinformation
In this new episode of "The AI And You" podcast with David F George, (recorded on 17-10-2023), he discusses threats posed by generative AI disinformation. He explains the difference between misinformation (accidental false information) and disinformation (deliberately deceptive information). David gives us some examples of how generative AI can be misused to create fake but convincing images, videos, voices, reviews etc to spread disinformation. This is discussed in the context of politics, business/marketing, and online retail. He looks at the need to fact-check AI-generated content and not take it at face value and, suggest governments may need to legislate and regulate to curb this threat of disinformation.

Jobs and AI
This episode highlights the impact of AI on daily lives and jobs, emphasising the need for responsible AI regulations. The lax approach to regulating Generative AI and other forms of AI automation has allowed AI companies to launch products that may exploit and negatively impact job markets. A current example is the Hollywood scriptwriters and actors strike against the use of AI language models to generate scripts and copyright infringement disputes illustrates the need for improved usage controls and regulation. David talks about how, he feels AI could impact all our lives especially in the employment market.

Responsible AI
Suddenly we are in a world where artificial intelligence (AI) is a reality. AI has the potential to impact many aspects of our lives, from how we communicate, to how we interact with our environment. AI can be used to automate mundane tasks, allowing people to focus on higher-level thinking and problem-solving. AI can also be used to create more efficient and tailored services, products, and experiences for customers, and create personalised education experiences. As AI technology continues to develop, its potential to affect our lives will become even more powerful.

Types of AI
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a rapidly growing field that involves the development of computer systems that can perform tasks that would normally require a level of human intelligence. AI can be divided into three main categories: Weak AI, Strong AI, and Artificial Superintelligence. Weak AI, or Artificial Narrow Intelligence, is currently in practical use and is limited in its capabilities. Strong AI, or Artificial General Intelligence, is in the process of proving its value and is constrained by the availability of computing power and the cost of training the models necessary for effective performance. Artificial Superintelligence is still theoretical, being an attempt to recreate the human mind in machine form. AI can be further classified based on different levels of complexity and capabilities, such as Reactive Machines, Limited Memory Machines, Theory of Mind, and Self-Aware. AI is being used in many areas today, such as autonomous vehicles, robotics, virtual assistants, image and facial recognition, Chatbots, business process automation and recommender systems. AI can be used as an ‘Assistive Intelligence’ tool to help make us more productive and create more time for us to extend our unique capabilities. However, there is a mismatch between the pace at which we can adapt to the transformational role of AI compared to the pace at which AI technology is evolving and being introduced, and there are potential risks. If you would like read more about this topic then please go to the companion article by following the link: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/types-artificial-intelligence-choicemaster

ChatGTP
Today, we’ll take a look at ChatGPT, a generative artificial intelligence technology that has the potential to disrupt a number of industries, from writing to the way we do our jobs. Back in 2019, a non-profit research group called OpenAI created a software program called GPT-2 that could generate paragraphs of coherent text and perform rudimentary reading comprehension and analysis without specific instruction.
