About the show

Welcome to "The Caring Advisor", I'm so glad you're here! I'm Elizabeth Brickman, "The Caring Advisor"! This podcast is for those who long to experience financial happiness God's way. I'm a former finance professional, credentialed in biblical finance. Ten years ago, I left private practice to write books, because I want all of us, not just those who sat at my desk, to develop an increasingly wonderful and holy relationship with money. We will talk about how to resist financial headwinds that come against us, how to make wise decisions, and how to avoid accidental poverty. I'll share stories about my financial faith heroes, clients who humbled me, inspired me, and taught me. These are everyday men and women just like you who got it right. And they serve as models for all of us about who we can be and how we can financially grow in Christ. Don't miss an episode, subscribe on your favorite podcast platform, so you'll be notified immediately when a new episode airs. And I do hope you will tell your family and at least five of your friends! Come visit me at elizabethbrickman.com

114. Financial Fear is Not a Wealth Strategy. Financial Rest is Possible.

Financial fear is a thief that steals more than your peace. Fear steals wealth! Is your financial happiness being compromised by financial fear? Are you hoping for every uncertainty to be resolved, every bill to be paid, and every financial threat to disappear so you can finally feel financial rest? This will happen—never. But there is something you can do now! The antidote to financial fear is financial rest, and I’ll show you how to develop it. Hint: It doesn't come from the outside in, but from the inside out. Why is financial rest so important? Because until you learn to close the gap between financial fear and rest, even if the Lord would bless you with wealth, you’d be stalked by the fear of losing it. Don’t let it happen to you! Thankfully, this is a financial gap you truly can close! I hope you’ll enjoy this episode. And be on the lookout for Part II, airing in a few weeks, in which I’ll share five practical, biblical responses you can use whenever financial fear tries to gain a foothold in your mind. Let’s close the gaps, heal the hurts, and put God at the center of our finances! 113. The Holiness of Receiving, with guest Lori Hatcher

What lies on the other side of generosity? We often talk about the blessing of giving—but what happens when God asks us to set aside our pride and simply receive? In today’s episode, award-winning author Lori Hatcher shares the remarkable story of a financial gift she never expected—and how she later discovered that the gift was part of God’s advance plan for a very special purpose. Sometimes God provides through our own work and resources. And sometimes He provides through the open hand of someone else. But receiving well can require its own kind of humility, trust, and faith. Join Lori and me for a beautiful conversation about the holiness of both giving and receiving—and the faithfulness of a God who often knows what we will need long before we do. 111. Authenticity: The Money-Making Potential of Being Yourself (Part II)

Which would be a more profitable pursuit? Conforming to others? Or just being your unique self? This episode will help you find the courage and make the commitment to be who God wired you to be. Never compare yourself to others or try to imitate the most popular or successful person in your occupation. Why try to fit in if God has wired you to stand out? Psalm 139 reminds us that God is our creator. He created us—and wired each of us —according to His custom plan, for His custom purpose. Your best life—spiritually, financially, socially, professionally, emotionally—will come from being yourself, ever alert and always ready to love and serve those He places along your path. 110. Authenticity: The End Of Pretend (Part I)

We all tend to want to fit in. But God has designed you to stand out. The body of Christ, just like the human body, has many components. (1 Corinthians 12:14-27). Each of us is God’s custom design. (Psalm 139:13-16). The Lord’s purposes are served when we are natural, authentic, and true to Him and to ourselves. When it comes to growing your success, authenticity will not limit you. Rather, it will keep the marketplace from diluting you. Even if you are a franchisee, your authentic style and personality are your secret advantage. Your competition may duplicate your product, process, and procedures—but the one thing they can never duplicate is… you. This episode will help you have the courage to be who God made you to be and discover the power of authenticity. 109. Who Told You Who You Are?

This episode begins our Wealth Confident series. In this opening episode, Elizabeth Brickman explores one of the most important questions we will ever answer: Whose voice has shaped our identity? Long before success strategies, business plans, or financial goals, there is identity. The way we see ourselves shapes the opportunities we pursue, the risks we take, the dreams we allow ourselves, and the life we ultimately build. Psalm 139 reminds us that we are intentionally created by God—fearfully and wonderfully made. Yet many of us continue to live below the level of confidence, courage, and purpose God intended because we have accepted labels He never gave us. In this episode, Elizabeth discusses: • Why identity always comes before strategy. • How false beliefs quietly limit success. • Why childhood circumstances and painful experiences do not determine your future. • The importance of replacing old soundtracks with God's truth. • How seeing yourself as God sees you unlocks courage, creativity, and confidence. Success is not reserved for those born with advantages. It belongs to those who align themselves with truth. 106. "Master Your Money Emotions… before they master you"

Emotions are often the hidden force behind financial stress. Master them—and everything else begins to change. Whether you feel secure… or stretched thin… your emotions can quietly take control of your financial decisions. In this episode, Elizabeth Brickman shares practical and biblical wisdom for managing the emotional turbulence that money can create. Drawing from 25 years as a financial advisor, she explains why financial distress is often caused less by the numbers themselves and more by the emotional reactions surrounding them. In This Episode • Why money triggers powerful emotional reactions • How emotional surges can lead to poor financial decisions • Why your identity must never be tied to financial outcomes • How regret can quietly trap people in financial paralysis • The biblical approach to overcoming financial fear • Why gratitude stabilizes both your heart and your decisions When emotions are wisely managed, money becomes a tool instead of a tyrant — and financial decisions become calmer, clearer, and more faithful. The goal is not to eliminate emotions. The goal is to lead them wisely. And with God’s help, you absolutely can.
