Interview with First Nations Civil Litigation Lawyer & Grey Matter Podcaster Leighton Grey (Ep#83)

Leighton Grey’s Short Biography: Leighton Grey Our next guest was raised in Edmonton and attended the University of Alberta, earning degrees with distinction in Arts, (English Literature) and Law. He started his own law practice in Northeastern Alberta in 1995 that has since grown into a firm of twelve lawyers with offices in Cold Lake, Edmonton and Calgary. That firm is known as Grey Wowk Spencer LLP, of which he is the senior managing partner and head of civil litigation. He has received many awards and distinctions for his work on behalf of First Nation People and is also a member of the Carry the Kettle First Nation at Sintaluta SK. Since 2020, he has acted as lead counsel in several high profile Constitutional cases including, James Coates and Grace Life Church, Timothy Stephens and his Church in Calgary, the vaccine mandate cases involving CN, CP, AHS, the U of A, Mount Royal University as well as others. You might also recognize his name as one who cross-examined Deena Hinshaw and helped to get her fired. Most recently, his firm has launched national class actions on behalf of the unvaccinated and prosecutes many indigenous rights cases. Leighton was involved in the original IRS Class Action and helped to negotiate its settlement in 2006. He created, writes, and hosts a podcast called Grey Matter, broadcast on the DayStar Network, which covers a variety of hot topics and can be found on YouTube, Spotify and other social media platforms. Guests have included Premier Danielle Smith, Dr. Robert Malone, Max Bernier, Sarah Palin, Christine Anderson, Eric Metaxis, Spencer Klavan, Viva Frei, Naomi Wolfe, Brian Peckford, and Preston Manning. Leighton has also served as Chair of the Alberta Prosperity Project. He is a proud Albertan, Canadian, conservative and a tireless advocate for restoration and rehabilitation of the civil liberties guaranteed to all of us by God and the Rule of Law (in that order) as enshrined under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Leighton Grey’s Extended Biography: From 1985-89, Leighton attended Augustana University in Camrose before transferring to the University of Alberta to complete his B.A. (Distinction) with dual majors in English Literature & History. He was awarded an essay prize in Ethics in 1988 and received the Louise McKinney Scholarship, awarded to Alberta students with the top 2% of GPA in the Province. Leighton was awarded the prestigious Legal Studies For Aboriginal People Scholarship from 1989-92, which is a national prize presented to only 10 students each year. He received early acceptance to the University of Alberta Faculty of Law in 1988 and graduated in 1992. Leighton also pursued post graduate degrees in Business Administration (2017) and his PhD (Philosophy). Leighton began his legal career with the Federal Department of Justice, where he completed his Articles of Clerkship in 1993 before taking a hiatus to play minor league pro hockey with The Daytona Beach Sun Devils. In 1995, Leighton resumed the full -time practice of law. In 2005, Leighton founded his current practice. Leighton was admitted to the Law Society of Saskatchewan in 2004 and to the Law Society of British Columbia in 2014. Leighton has conducted hundreds of trials before Alberta Courts, and has for many years been considered one of the top criminal trial lawyers in Alberta. He has served as mentor or principal to eight articling students, two of whom went on to become Partners in GWSLLP. Leighton is also a Qualified Mediator and Arbitrator, and is a member of the ADR Institute of Canada. He served as an Adjudicator in Law Society Disciplinary Hearings from 2015-2020. Leighton was made Queen’s Counsel in 2010, and was then the youngest lawyer in Alberta to hold that prestigious designation. He was the recipient of the 2013 Stars of Alberta Volunteer Award, the 2015 Legal Aid Society Access to Justice Award, and the 2019 Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Gary J. Bigg Justice & Humanitarian Award. Leighton was born in Regina Saskatchewan and grew up in the Kensington community of north Edmonton. Leighton is a status Indian whose Great Grandfather was once the Hereditary Chief of the Carry The Kettle or Jack Band at Sintaluta, SK. Leighton’s grandmother and great aunt were both survivors of the notorious Brandon Indian Residential School. Leighton’s father is a Treaty Indian who spent over two decades helping indigenous youth transition out of urban gangs, and was the founder of The Spiritkeeper Youth Society. Leighton excelled in sports and academics, graduating with honours from Queen Elizabeth Composite High School in 1985, where he scored the highest mark in the Province on the Social Studies departmental final examination and was awarded the Alexander Rutherford Scholarship. He also played Bantam and Midget AAA hockey with the Canadian Athletic Club. Leighton was heavily involved in the original IRS Class Action from 2004-2016, and represented hundreds of claimants in the ADR process that was part of the settlement which culminated in the Truth & Reconciliation Commission Report. He and his wife, Jennifer, are the proud parents of two sons who attend Rink Hockey Academy in Kelowna, B.C. Their family is also a proud owner and supporter of the Drayton Valley Thunder Junior A Hockey Club. Bruce Pardy’s Short Biography: Bruce Pardy is professor of law at Queen’s University and executive director of Rights Probe, a law and liberty project of the Energy Probe Research Foundation. A critic of legal progressivism, social justice, and the discretionary administrative state, he has written on a range of pressing legal subjects at the front lines of the culture war inside the law, including environmental governance, climate change, energy policy, human rights and freedoms, professional and university governance, property and tort theory, free markets, and the rule of law. He has taught at law schools in Canada, the United States and New Zealand, practiced civil litigation at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP in Toronto, served as adjudicator and mediator on the Ontario Environmental Review Tribunal, and has published and commented widely in traditional and online media. He serves as senior fellow at the Fraser Institute, and helped to birth the Runnymede Society, a branch of the Canadian Constitution Foundation. He spearheaded resistance to and ultimate repeal of the Law Society of Ontario’s statement of principles (SOP) policy that required Ontario lawyers to attest to their ideological purity to maintain their licence to practice. He is one of the co-creators of the Free North Declaration , a public petition and movement to protect civil liberties in Canada from COVID-19 irrationality and overreach. Leo Lyon Zagami Extended Biography: Leo Lyon Zagami is a writer, researcher, and the son of Dr. Elio Zagami (1939- 2010), a well known Jungian analyst, writer, and co-founder of GAPA (Independent Group of Analytical Psychology, of which he was president). His grandfather, Senator Leopoldo Zagami, a Sicilian politician, was also a known historian and author who married into the aristocratic family of the Marquis de Gregorio. Leo’s mother, Jessica Lyon Young, is a member of the family of the Queen Mother of England. Her father, Henry Lyon Young was also a writer. Felicity Mason, her mother, Leo’s maternal grandmother, helped Leo develop his talents from a young age. Felicity was a collaborator and friend of avant-garde eccentrics such as William Burroughs and Brion Gysin. She was also known under the pseudonym Anne Cumming, that made her famous in the 80s as a controversial novelist, after working for many years in the cinema business with prestigious figures such as Fellini and Zeffirelli. Zagami, who is known for a brilliant career as Leo Young in the media and music industry as a Record Producer, became quickly popular on the web in 2006 because of his direct involvement in the New World Order and Secret Societies known to the majority of us as the “Illuminati.” His blog rose quickly and gained attention from people such as David Icke for its accurate fully documented groundbreaking inside information. Between 2009 and 2013, Zagami published books in Europe and Japan based on a variety of subjects that range from the history of Secret Societies and the Vatican, to geo-political matters concerning the New World Order. Interview with Founder and President of Renew Alberta Dr. Matthew Rowley (Ep#79)

Biography for Dr. Matthew Rowley: Dr. Michael Rowley is the president and founder of Renew Alberta. He is a fifth generation Albertan, and has a PhD in political theology, and is a missionary professor by trade. He believes strongly in the cause of Alberta Independence, and in general seeks to see Alberta strong and free. Quoted from Renew Alberta’s Website: What Happened? Something was taken from us.
