“Arthroplasty for Femoral Neck Fracture Can Be Delayed for Treatment with an Arthroplasty Surgeon”

Dr. Krueger joined hosts Dr. Gabrielli, Dr. Landy and Dr. Gold on this episode of the Augment. They discuss the final paper presentation of the 2025 AAHKS Annual Meeting, “Arthroplasty for Femoral Neck Fracture Can Be Delayed for Treatment with an Arthroplasty Surgeon”. The paper compares outcomes for patients treated with arthroplasty for femoral neck fracture performed by adult reconstruction subspecialized surgeons to those performed by surgeons of other orthopaedic subspecialties and to determine if surgery can safely be delayed to accommodate subspecialized care. “State of the Art Management of Periprosthetic Fractures of the Femur”, Highlighted Symposium of the 2025 Annual Meeting

“Secrets to Building Your Career”, Highlights of the YAG Annual Meeting Education Panel

Former YAG Chairs Dr. Frisch and Dr. Wolfstadt join Dr. Landy and Dr. Schwartz on this episode of the Augment, to discuss some highlights of the YAG Educational Panel that was held at the 2025 AAHKS Annual Meeting: “Worst Mistakes and Best Decisions in Early Practice: Secrets to Building Your Career.” Tips from the discussion include how to manage issues from the OR, finding your best practice setting and contracting early in your career. Revising the Spring Meeting with Dr. Vigdorchik and Dr. Buller

Dr. Vigdorchik and Dr. Buller, Chair and Vice Chair of the AAHKS Education Council, respectively, join hosts Dr. Sarpong and Dr. Yoo on this episode of the Augment. AAHKS Evidence-Based Medicine Committee with Dr. Charles Hannon

Dr. Hannon, chair of the AAHKS Evidence-Based Medicine Committee, joined hosts Dr. Gabrielli, Dr. Crockatt and Dr. Thomas on this episode of the Augment. They discuss Dr. Hannon’s introduction to the committee, while he was a resident under Past President Craig J. Della Valle, MD, discussing evidence for opioid prescriptions and developing clinical practice guidelines for multimodal pain control for TJA. The committee is currently working on obesity guidelines, after having developed several others including dental prophylaxis guidelines in partnership with AAOS. EBM regularly works with partners on these CPGs, including AAOS and the American College of Rheumatology. Discussion also included incorporating AI into EBM practices, current evidence gaps and quality of evidence, new models of randomized trials, getting involved in trials as a young surgeon and more.
