Ephesians 3:1–21 | Less Me, More We (Week 6)
Pastor Cody Walls | rest Church Big Idea: GOD’S POWER IS UNLIMITED, AND IT IS AT WORK IN US Ephesians 3 gives us the reveal of a mystery that had been hidden for generations: WE ARE ALL ONE FAMILY IN CHRIST. Through the Gospel, we are FELLOW HEIRS, members of the SAME BODY and partakers of the SAME PROMISE. The mystery isn’t a thing. THE MYSTERY IS US. UNITY, NOT UNIFORMITY. And God didn’t reveal this mystery just so we could know it. He intends to display His wisdom THROUGH THE CHURCH. THE CHURCH IS GOD’S PLAN A. Church was never meant to be a solo sport. We open the Word together. We worship together. We pray together. We serve together. We grow together. God is building a people, and He intends to show the world and even the spiritual realm, His wisdom through His Church. Paul then prays that we would be STRENGTHENED WITH POWER through the Spirit and that we would grasp the breadth, length, height and depth of Christ’s love WITH ALL THE SAINTS. We were never meant to grasp it alone. And then Paul ends with a celebration: God is able to do FAR MORE ABUNDANTLY than anything we could ask or imagine, according to the power already AT WORK WITHIN US. Not just within me. Within US. His power isn’t somewhere out there waiting for us to find it. It is already at work in His people, His family, His Church. LESS ME. MORE WE. The mystery isn’t a puzzle you solve. It’s a people you belong to. And the God who revealed it has unlimited power and He put it right here, IN US. Pastor Johan Leclaire | rest Church Big Idea: WHEN WE SEE WHAT GOD HAS DONE FOR US, IT SHOULD CHANGE HOW WE LIVE FOR HIM. Not out of duty, but out of love. Ephesians 2 reminds us that we were SEPARATED from Christ, FAR OFF, WITHOUT HOPE and WITHOUT GOD. We were on the outside looking in. But then everything changes: BUT NOW, IN CHRIST JESUS. Those who were once FAR OFF have been BROUGHT NEAR by the blood of Christ. Jesus didn’t merely restore us to God, He also brought us back to ONE ANOTHER. He tore down the dividing wall of hostility, made peace and created ONE NEW PEOPLE in Himself. In Christ, we are no longer strangers and outsiders. We BELONG. We are fellow citizens, members of God’s FAMILY and part of something much bigger than ourselves. And this new family has a foundation. Jesus Christ Himself is the CORNERSTONE, the One who gives His Church its alignment, stability, identity and unity. But God isn’t finished building. In Christ, we are being joined together into a HOLY TEMPLE, a DWELLING PLACE FOR GOD by the Spirit. Jesus restored us. He established us. And He is building us together. When we see what God has done for us, it should change how we live for Him... not out of duty, but out of love. Ephesians 2:1-10 | From Dead To Different (week 4)
Pastor Cody Walls | rest Church Big Idea: YOU WERE DEAD. BUT GOD. NOW LIVE DIFFERENT. Ephesians 2 does not describe us as sick, struggling or mostly dead. It says we were DEAD in our sin, BOUND by the course of this world and CONDEMNED as children of wrath. But then come two of the greatest words in Scripture: BUT GOD. Because He is rich in mercy and great in love, God MADE US ALIVE with Christ, RAISED US UP with Him and SEATED US with Him in the heavenly places. We are saved by grace through faith, not by our works, not by our record and not by anything we bring to the table. And grace does not just save us from something. It saves us for something. We are HIS WORKMANSHIP, created in Christ Jesus for good works God prepared beforehand for us to walk in. You were dead. But God. Now live different. Ephesians 1:15-23 | Power You Can't Measure (week 3)
