The Weight of Being the Reliable One
Have you ever noticed that the more capable you become, the less people ask how you're doing? This episode came from me reflecting on what it means to be "the reliable one"—the person everyone trusts, the one who figures things out, carries the responsibility, and somehow always makes it work. For a long time, I wore that as a badge of honour. But lately I've been wondering… at what point does being reliable stop being a strength and start becoming an identity we never question? In this conversation, I'm sharing my own thoughts on why so many capable women end up carrying more than they need to, why support can feel so unfamiliar, and why I've started valuing reciprocity over proving how much I can handle. If you've ever felt like everyone leans on you, but very few people think to ask what you might need, I think you'll feel seen in this episode.
