A Monday purge

The big question is - are we the only ones up in arms about an airplane? How do they work? Who invented them? And why don't people get off in the orderly fashion anymore? DO YOU? Or are you one of those people who don't wait for the rows in front of you? Send us your thoughts - we promise not to judge (!). It's been a hot minute since we've hit this podcast so a big thank you for your patience and understanding in our absence. We don't ever want to leave the pod in the lurch and do our utmost not to - so thank you for being patient with us about the unexpected hiatus. We're back just scraping the surface on what has been an eventful few weeks for the both of us. We've had the best time together in both Wellington and Christchurch, and the time has been made even more special with extra family members and close friends thrown in the mixer. We talk about airplanes, kids, tantrums, kid sport, kids and phones and a big old NZ trip recap from start to finish. Lots in the mix of it all and hope you enjoy the catch up and relate to some of our Monday musings. See you soon! From the archives - sis'n'law Sarah on infertility & infant loss.

Today we feel so grateful to our other sister in law, Sarah, for very bravely sharing her journey with infant loss and miscarriage. We must preface this podcast to alert you of the fact this conversation may be triggering for some of our audience, as Sarah very courageously opens up about her experience to date; as mother of Stanley, earth side, and sweet Sophia, who flies high up amongst the stars. Sarah is passionate about speaking up and normalising these difficult conversations. We thank you so much sissy, for sharing this with us as well as our listeners. Please remember to be kind, and please remember if you need help, there are many pathways to help available. From our respective wardrobes to you, our dear listener, with love. A big sissy D&M (Char included)

HELLO! Thank you for your patience in regards to our unexpected week off last week. Thank you, too, for your support and encouragement to the previous week of podcasts - the waffle-pod Monday, our podcast with Fee and our second book club rendezvous with Hobbsy. It's so fun to hear from you about each episode and we look forward to your feedback week on week! Today is an exciting day because, as luck would have it (or rather it being King's birthday) we have Char in to join us aboard the sister debrief. We begin with Char telling us a bit about her new and very exciting job - naturally we talk a bit about the challenging few years she's had and how things have generally been for her. Her appreciation for how difficult a redundancy can be and everything that comes with that, for one. We then recap the Kiwi Yarns podcast show in Auckland with Brodie Kane, which *then* leads on to one big conversation around the sister dynamic, fomo, and all sorts of complicated and complex feelings between the three of us. We take a segue - as per usual - to life with phones, trying to look up and the reality of life now in this tech-world. All topped off with the sparkle spreader and, despite some challenging times, there's a lot to be grateful for. Like you guys - a big thank you, to all of you for listening. Sparkle Pod Book Club Ep 2

In our second episode of the Sparkle Pod Book Club, we settle into the rhythm of our reading lives with a relaxed, smut-reference-filled catch-up on all things books and more. We do our best today to follow some structure - just look at us go! We kick things off by sharing what we’ve just finished reading - the stories that stayed with us - or didn't - and surprised us. From there, we move into what we’re currently reading, unpacking where we’re at alongside current musings, how these books are making us feel, and whether we’re loving them enough to stay committed or already eyeballing what's next (*it's me, hi). As per standard sparkle pod programming, the conversation naturally drifts into the kind of mindless waffle you expect - the bits that make these chats feel like a catch-up with your gal pals. From being extroverted in the shower to burying ourselves in smut - why we might be drawn to it, what it gives us as readers, and whether it has any impact on our real-life relationships and expectations. We wrap up the episode by answering some Qs from our community, covering everything from best book of all time (a hard one) to living vicariously through the characters. Hope you enjoy! PS: look out for the content we put on our social media that will allow us to have a bit more 1:1 chat about this conversation with you! Here are our books - Sarah - Just finished - Strangers: A memoir of marriage, by Belle Burdon What she's currently reading - Yesteryear, by Caro Claire Burke TBR (to be read) - either, A deaf in the family, by Pete Majendie Lisa - Just finished - Mr Masters and Mr Spencer, both by TL Swann Currently reading - The Garcia (third in series), TL Swann TBR - Broken Country, by Claire Leslie Hall (or more TL Swann hehe) Jess - Just finished - Yesteryear, by Caro Claire Burke Currently reading - The Names, by Frances Knapp TBR - Wifedom: Mrs Orwell's Invisible Life, by Anna Funder To learn more about Move it Mama visit our website www.moveitmama.co.nz Join the Move it Mama app on the App Store here and the Google Play store here

Weekend story time: Six60, old flames, school camp

Sometimes when it gets to Monday mornings we think, 'hmm, what on earth do we have to talk about today'? Well, as it turns out, quite a bit. It was an eventful weekend in more ways than one and we have a lot of shit to say and questions to ask. When we ask these questions and seek your input we really mean it (lol) - we'd LOVE to hear from you. We see your comments, we love your DMs and we really appreciate your feedback every week. In todays waffle pod we go from Apex and Peter Andre to a school camp rundown, the Six60 + Synthony synopsis, drinking/alcohol, endless washing, weekend sport, love being a choice, a DRAMATIC Sunday story share (please send us any of your own stories!) and botox. Big topics - as per. Love you guys - thanks for listening to our expert quality banter (?) xx To learn more about Move it Mama visit our website www.moveitmama.co.nz Join the Move it Mama app on the App Store here and the Google Play store here

Mother's Day sum up (+ undertone of Mondayitis)

Hello hello - back for another Monday and is it just me or are we flat? Perhaps just that - flat. We start the episode off by focusing far too much on our looks - a recent fascination with our hooding eyelids and the GP prescribed cream, Tretinoin (talk to your GP!) to blame. From there we're into the full synopsis of the week that was. From hooded eyelids to a trip to the cinema for the Devil Wears Prada 2 (spoiler alert), what Mother's Day entailed - both the positive and the negatives including some solid sock game for LJ - woes and worries about the future, washing hacks and more. It feels a little like we started off with a bit of spunk and end in a bit of a funk but hey, we know you've come to expect a ride. Love you for being here. THANK YOU! (we nearly didn't post this episode worried it isn't worth your time at all but we thought, this is just us today and so out we go). In short: MUM WIFE LIFE.

All things mum life - feeling flat for no rhyme or reason, piles of washing that never end, new jobs, kids sport, marriage, health is wealth, alcohol and more. We came to the mic in a bit of a mood this Monday morning and end with one of us a little more on the up and the other a little less so. We'll now take a moment to zoom out and remind ourselves that underneath the chaos, the overwhelm, and the Monday moods, there’s a lot to be grateful for. A couch full of folded washing means full lives, the busy weekends mean people we love, and even on the flat days, there are still some magical micro moments if we look carefully. This is your gentle nudge that it’s okay to feel both stretched and thankful - and that appreciating your life doesn’t mean it has to feel easy all the time. Connection, app stuff, mental health, weekend summaries

This week - as per - we’re diving into all sorts of stuff - community, the app, mental health, family and chaos, weekends of sport, and talking about the things that keep us grounded - particularly Leece and her commitment to doing things that help keep her well and feeling good. At first we chat quite a bit about the Move it Mama app, the connection some of us have been missing since the Spread the Sparkle Facebook days, and why that sense of community matters to us so much. We also get into the importance of moving your body, protecting your mental health, and carving out time for the habits that help you feel good - even when life is FULL and HARD. We know it's hard to do but we need to make a commitment to ourselves. Lots on the waffle agenda today and great to be together to dissect life's current ebbs and flows! Sparkle Pod Book Club Ep 1

Welcome to the very first episode of Sparkle Pod Book Club - a cosy new corner of the podcast where books, banter, and plenty of tangents collide. In this pilot episode, we kick things off with a relaxed chat all about our reading lives - what we're currently reading, how and when we fit reading into busy life, questioning unspoken reading etiquette, our recent favourite books, and what’s on the wish list for future reads. We're all over the shop today spitting out a LOT of info and a fair few books. In future episodes, we'll take to a little more structure for our book chats (if you know us at all, you're wise to believe STRUCTURE might not happen). Thanks for listening! Below is a list of the books we discussed today - Hobbsy - Liz Nugent, Strange Sally Diamond (she's in the middle of it - she gives a decent synopsis without spoilers) Leece - TL Swan, The Miles High series (finishing the fifth book of the series - no spoilers) Jess - all books she had been recommended by Hobbs! Current read: Everyone Here is Lying by Shari Lapena, and recent reads: The Vanishing Place by Zoe Rankin, Broken Country by Claire Leslie Hall and What Have You Done, also by Shari Lapena Up next: The Names, by Florence Knapp. This is not a formal book club - it’s light-hearted, honest, a little bit chaotic, and full of the kind of conversation that feels like chatting books with friends over coffee. Whether you're a die-hard reader, a casual page-turner, or just here for a LOL, take this as your invite to join the club.
