Ep 84: Come have a yap with me!

Send us Fan Mail It has been a hot minute, so today’s episode is a good old-fashioned catch-up. I’m chatting about the new Allied Health Assistant role at Eucalypt OT, why I’ve been cautious about growing the business, supervising OT students, reopening my books for supervision and the importance of building an OT community outside of your workplace. It is so good to be back behind the mic, so I hope you enjoy this ep! For more on the AHA Role --> https://www.eucalyptot.com.au/general-4

83: Exhaust and Excite: AI in social media, My thoughts on AT prescription & lazy supports.

Send us Fan Mail This week I'm trying something new: Exhaust & Excite . I'm sharing three things that are currently exhausting me and three things that are currently exciting me. Basically my way to get things off my chest so thanks so much!!! This ep is a little bit of everything - with my thoughts on the current social media landscape, plans to be tik tok famous (lol) and dabbling in AT prescription! As always thanks SO much for tuning in and sharing the love. Happy Listening!!

81: Friday Pause and Ponder

Send us Fan Mail Trying something a little different this week! If you’ve been listening to the podcast lately, you’ll know I’ve been pretty open about coming out the other side of burnout and trying to build better habits into my work weeks so I don’t end up back there again. One of the things I’m really trying to stick to is actually reflecting on my week instead of just pushing through to the next one. So in this episode, I’m basically talking through my Friday reflection using my Pause & Ponder Pad ! The highs, the tricky bits, what made me smile, where my energy and self-care sat this week and what I need heading into the weekend. My hope is that by sharing mine out loud it might encourage you to pause and think about your own week too. Reflection is one of those things we all know is helpful… but it’s very easy to skip when life gets busy. Happy Listening! https://hollytheot.com/products/pause-and-ponder-reflection-pad

80: Burnout Bounceback Part 2 | The slow climb out

Send us Fan Mail Part 2 of the burnout bounce back series is here, and we are chatting about the slow crawl out of burnout No magical fix, no huge life-changing breakthrough, just lots of tiny things that actually helped me start feeling human again. I talk about why my nervous system was absolutely cooked and the little shifts that helped (like less screen time, tiny walks, better routines, more connection, and being way kinder to myself instead of trying to fix everything overnight) If you’ve ever been burnt out and then also overwhelmed by the idea of "recovering" from burnout... same. This one’s for you

79: The Story of Flexxi Beauty with Bella Morton-Smith

Send us Fan Mail Bella is the definition of OT brain + creative brain = making MAGIC In this episode, I’m joined by Bella (OT + ex-Mecca makeup artist) who’s about to launch Flexi Beauty, a seriously innovative makeup brush system designed for people with limited hand and wrist function. We chat all things: how the idea started, what it’s really like doing product development as a young OT, testing prototypes and why makeup absolutely counts as self-care and participation. If you love OTs doing cool stuff, you’re going to LOVE this one.

78: Burnout Bounceback Part 1: The lead up

Send us Fan Mail An episode I wish I never had to record, but one that will hopefully resonate with those on a similar journey. Last year, I burnt out. This year, I’m making sure it never happens again. I’ve been on a huge journey the last 12 months and have learnt so much about what it means to live a balanced, healthy life and run my businesses sustainably. I’m going to share everything I think contributed and how I got myself out. Listen with kindness, and remember that everyone’s journey is different. This is mine.

Ep 77: Your Questions Answered - Living and Working in Darwin, NDIS Changes, Expanding a team and more!

Send us Fan Mail Welcome back to Holly the OT Podcast! I popped a question box on my stories and you absolutely delivered. In this Q&A, I share unfiltered, honest thoughts on what life and work in the NT really look like, how I’d run the NDIS if I had a magic wand, and where I think OTA advocacy can keep pushing forward. I also chat about growing my practice without burning out, surviving placement with your sanity intact, finding (and thriving in) a new-grad role, and plenty more along the way. Happy Listening!

Ep 76: Diving in to H2OT with Sam Harris

Send us Fan Mail Welcome back to Holly the OT Podcast! This week I’m joined by the absolutely FABULOUS Samantha Harris, founder of h2OT. Sam talks us through her OT journey, from new grad to navigating life in London in 2020 (IYKYK!), and then returning home to Australia and launching the her own private practice (with a difference). We dive (hehe) into all things business, occupational therapy, and everything in between. Sam share's about what it is really like being an aquatic OT, and how it really is the same as what a "land-based OT" does - just more fun ;) Sam’s got an infectious passion and energy and I know you will all LOVE this chat.
