Special episode: A Look Inside Quantum Computing

On this bonus episode for the holidays, Assistant Professor Jason Jenkins interviews Dr. Peng Guo and Dr. Mariam Gado about their roles in quantum computing at Dakota State University (DSU). Dr. Guo, a physics faculty member since 2023, teaches quantum computing courses and has received an NSF Award for simulating nuclear reactions using quantum computers. Dr. Gado, a recent PhD graduate, focuses on quantum cryptography and has taught quantum computing courses since joining DSU. They discuss the importance of linear algebra and programming skills for students, the potential of quantum computing in AI, and the emerging quantum computing programs at DSU, including a graduate certificate and undergraduate minor.Check back later this spring for a new season of Cyberology! Women in Cyber

On this episode of Cyberology, Margarita Sallinen of the Swedish Defence University and the podcast Cyber Chats & Chill joins Kanthi Narukonda and Dr. Ashley Podhradsky of Dakota State to discuss their experiences as women in cyber. Sallinen is an information security consultant at Orange Cyberdefense and an AI researcher for the Swedish government. She also serves in the Swedish Armed Forces - Home Guard. Governors Cyber Academy update

On this episode of Cyberology, Dr. Fenecia Homan returns as a guest to give us an update on the Governors Cyber Academy, which is dedicated to expanding awareness and access to cyber education and career pathways to South Dakota high school students. Homan recaps how the first full year of programming went and what is on the horizon for the upcoming year. The Governors Cyber Academy gives high school students the opportunity to take university-level, transferrable, dual-credit cyber courses. Students who take all courses in the program will complete the first year for a bachelor's degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, cyber operations, and network and security administration.
