Getting SDI and PTP in Sync
Moving from SDI to IP? Getting your SDI network and PTP network timed to the same exact timing source and starting point is key to switching between your 2110 network and SDI network without going through a complete reclocker. In this video, we look at what to measure, why your horizontal offset will move a little, and where your 2110 video should actually start. We also look at why the timing between both links needs to be identical when using a red/blue or amber/blue network. And when you're ready to start your IP migration, don’t begin by touching the live core. Start in a controlled environment, learn the timing behavior of your devices, and prove your assumptions before you scale. #ST2110 #PTP #SDI #IPMigration

Testing PTP the Right Way
Why pulling the PTP cable isn't enough; test GPS failures too. It's really important to understand the priorities, the clock class, and how to set up a proper network and how to test that network. You do need to test not only just removing PTP, but also removing just the GPS lock and have it go into clock class seven and make sure you do have that change of state all the way through your system. One of the other things that is vitally important in looking at in a real world scenario is PTP timing. #PTP #Timing #GPS #Broadcast

Why IP Packet Loss Looks Different
When you’re working with ST 2110 and hybrid SDI/IP systems, you need visibility into more than the picture. You need to see what’s happening with your IP flows, packet timing, PTP, redundancy, and the video and audio those packets carry. Leader offers you analysis tools to see those relationships clearly, troubleshoot problems faster, and work in IP with greater confidence. #ST2110 #IPVideo #BroadcastTechnology #BroadcastEngineering #Leader

How BMCA Really Chooses a Grandmaster
If you’re working in a hybrid SDI and IP environment, getting timing right across both sides of your facility is critical. As Leader’s Steve Holmes explains, your SDI network and your PTP network need to be timed to the same source and the same starting point. If your timing is aligned correctly, you can move between those sources while keeping everything perfectly synchronized. But there’s more to check than whether your PTP system is going. Steve Holmes walks you through what broadcast engineers should be looking at. You’ll hear about the relationship between PTP and Blackburst, as well as timing across redundant IP networks. #SDItoIP #IPVideo #BroadcastTechnology #BroadcastEngineering #Leader
